John Bevis

John Bevis is a writer, poet, editor and book artist living in London and Ironbridge, Shropshire.

His most recent title, 'An English Library Journey', was published by Eye Books in March, 2022. Other recent books include 'The Keartons: Inventing Nature Photography' about the work of the godfathers of bird photography, Richard and Cherry Kearton (Uniformbooks, 2016); and 'Aaaaw to Zzzzzd: The Words of Birds,' published by MIT Press in 2010, a meditation and lexicon of bird song.

Critical studies include 'Printed in Norfolk' (RGAP, 2012), on the iconic small press Coracle.

Poetry titles include 'Letter Winged Kite' (Penteract, 2020), poems formed of constellations of common bird names; 'Window Paintings' (Coracle, 2015), a response to paintings by Steve Skidmore; and 'Some Alternatives to Flock,' a mix of found poems and verse (Coracle, 2008).
