Daniel J. Whelan

Daniel J. Whelan is Bill and Connie Bowen Odyssey Professor of Politics at Hendrix College in Conway, AR. He teaches courses in international relations history and theory, international law, human rights, U.S. foreign policy, and normative political economy. He received his Ph.D. in International Relations from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver (2006) and also holds an MA in International Affairs from the American University in Washington, D.C.

Professor Whelan published Indivisible Human Rights: A History (University of Pennsylvania Press) in 2010. He is co-author (with Jack Donnelly) of "International Human Rights" (5th and 6th editions, 2016 and 2020). He has contributed to several edited volumes on human rights as well as having his work published in journals such as Human Rights Quarterly and Humanity.
