From teaching science in public schools, to developing a wood carving business, to serving as a ordained pastor in the United Church of Christ, to working as an on-call chaplain, I am now a writer. All these work experiences and living in 14 locations have provided me with a wealth of situations and perspectives of life to draw upon for my writing. My first book, You Mean I Have to Look at the Body!? Stories of Dying and Living, is composite of personal and professional end of life experiences. The book provides comfort to those who have had to face the death of a friend or family member and to introduce death and dying to those who have not yet walked through the death of a loved one. Tarnished Pulpit, my second book is based on characters and situations I encountered in ministry. Gertie a Memoir is a love story about my maternal grandmother. She was a character that I'd like everyone to meet. I am doing research and developing the characters for my next book featuring Marth Ann Owen. I have found writing and critique groups invaluable to my development as a writer. The High Country Writers of Boone, North Carolina set me on my journey into writing with their support and encouragement as well as their critique. Along with writing, I enjoy traveling with my husband, visiting children and grandchildren, reading, and playing golf.
