Jack Slater

Raised in Northamptonshire, England, Jack Slater is from a long line of farmers. He has had a varied career, working in farming, forestry, retail and biomedical science as well as spending five years as a service engineer, covering most of the UK.

He has been writing since childhood, completing his first novel at the age of seventeen. He came late to crime fiction, having enjoyed it for many years but never considered writing it until it was suggested by his editor, who appreciated his treatment of a secondary character in his thriller The Venus Flaw so much that she said, 'You know, you ought to write crime fiction.'

DS Peter Gayle was the result and he and his team are now in their 18th case since being taken on in 2016 by publishers HQ Digital. Several of the books in the series have reached the number one slot in their category on Kobo and do well on Amazon and other platforms too, gaining five-star reviews.

Note: the Jason Trapp, Gideon Ryker and Blake Larsen books are not by this author, but by another Jack Slater.
