Rebecca J. Cunningham

Rebecca J. Cunningham is a British fiction writer whose work moves between metafiction, speculative fiction, noir and satirical fable. Across eight novels, a novella, a short play and several collections, she has created a body of fiction in which the everyday tilts almost imperceptibly into the absurd.

Her books include the alternative political fiction, Singing William Blake; The Mattress Turner of Twigmere, a Faustian tale of revenge and retail; and Three Days with Della Quinn, a taut psychological study. A synaesthete, Cunningham brings a distinctive tonal and sensory layering to her fiction.

Her forthcoming collection of poems and short stories continues her exploration of the overlooked and the strangely observed.

Asked what compels her to write, she says simply: "It's the company I keep."

Rebecca J. Cunningham lives in West London and has two children.
