Pat Clyne

Pat Clyne was born in New York City. While growing up on Long Island he was inspired by Jacques Cousteau's book, "The Silent World." He began diving at age 13 and followed Mike Nelson's adventures on Sea Hunt with a passion. He purchased his first "Aqualung" while working as a lifeguard at the age of 16 in Atlantic Beach. His diving career was put on hold for the next 4 years while he did a stint in the US Air Force as a photographer involved in aerial reconnaissance. After his hitch was up in 1969, he used the G.I. bill to enroll in the Divers Training Academy in Ft. Pierce Fl., but while waiting for the first semester to begin, he hopped on a shark hunting boat to the Florida Keys where he eventually ran into Mel Fisher who convinced him that treasure hunting was a lot safer and more lucrative than shark hunting. Since that day in 1973, Clyne never looked back. He began documenting the search with still photographs and eventually underwater video. By the mid-ninety's Mel made Pat the vice president of his salvage company, Salvors Inc. After Mel Fisher's death in 1998, he became VP of all Mel Fisher's Enterprises. Pat also participated in the Titanic 2000 expedition where he placed Mel Fisher's ashes at the helm of that great ship. Pat retired from Mel's company in 2005 and is currently filming other underwater shipwrecks for TV documentaries.
