Gert Biesta

I am (part-time) Professor of Public Education at the Centre for Public Education and Pedagogy, Maynooth University Ireland, and (part-time) Professor of Educational Theory and Pedagogy at the Moray House School of Education, University of Edinburgh. I previously worked at universities in Scotland, England, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. I am co-editor of the British Educational Research Journal, associate editor of Educational Theory, co-editor of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Teacher Education, and former President of the Philosophy of education Society USA.

I write about the theory of education, the theory of educational research, about teaching, curriculum and pedagogy, about teacher education and about education policy. I conduct research on such topics as lifelong learning, citizenship, democratic education, curriculum, and vocational education.
