Joseph Sinclair

ASPEN (Authors' Self-Publishing Enterprise) was established in 1990, following an initiative by Joseph (Joe) Sinclair at a Society of Authors' AGM, based on his experience of marketing his own first book: Refrigerated Transportation. Since that time he has published another nine books, including seven of his own, and has had three other books published by commercial publishing houses. In most cases he made more money from the books he self-published than from those published by others.

In 2002 Joe introduced the e-zine and paper magazine Nurturing Potential for which he was Managing Editor. For the next four years, this magazine enjoyed critical acclaim both as a paper and an online publication. Ultimately the paper version was dropped as most subscribers preferred to enjoy the no-cost online version and it became uneconomical to publish a paper version for the few subscribers who were not internet-connected.

Then, with Issue No. 18 of the magazine Joe Sinclair became unwell and, although he persevered for a further two issues, he became too ill to continue, and the magazine sadly expired with Issue No. 20. Happily, Joe Sinclair himself recovered.

The second edition of his first book, Refrigerated Transportation, was published by Witherby & Co. Ltd in 1999 and continues to enjoy regular sales. An ABC of NLP, published in 1992 sold out completely and was revised and expanded in 1998. It continues to enjoy sales via the Amazon site.

Joe Sinclair, under the ASPEN banner, also published Lynn Carneson-McGregor's Homage To Hope in 1998 and Abigail Freeman's The Chrysalid Years in 2001. Peace of Mind is a Piece of Cake was co-authored with Michael Mallows and published by Crown Publishing in 1998. His sole hardback book, Arteries of War, a history of military transport from Alexander the Great to the Gulf War, was published by Airlife in 1992.

2001 saw the publication by ASPEN of his only work of fiction, The Torturous Scheme.

In 2009 ASPEN published a new book by Joe Sinclair. This was a miscellany of much of his writing over a number of decades, and included poetry written as early as the 1940s as well as several articles written for Nurturing Potential and a variety of other journals. It is entitled Did I Really Say That?

Amongst the several projects he has on the back-burner is an autobiography tentatively entitled Did I Really Do That?

A comprehensive description of Joe sinclair's life and works will be found at his www.conts.com website which also provides access to the www.nurturingpotential.net website where complete archives of the Nurturing Potential magazine are available.
