Ingrid Grenon was born in Maine near the Kennebec River in 1960. Although the family later moved to southeastern Massachusetts, Ingrid's connection with Maine and her blood ties to that region never waned.
Descended from several Mayflower families and some of the founding families in Portsmouth New Hampshire, as well as the first English settlers on Mount Desert Island, Ingrid is also descended from the native Wabanaki.
An avid equestrian and horse professional; Ingrid has a Riding Master's degree with emphasis in Dressage, a riding instructor's license and is also a certified farrier and blacksmith. She also has a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Equestrian Studies.
Ingrid attributes her maritime history interest to her seafaring ancestors from Hancock County, Maine. Oddly enough, this interest presented itself later in life and was the result of some "most unusual circumstances." At nearly one half century of age Ingrid hung up her boots and spurs to pursue an interest in Maine maritime history. She stowed a few changes of clothing in an old sea bag and booked passage on a nineteenth century coasting schooner, sailing Down East in the same waters that her ancestor did nearly two hundred years ago. Perhaps the great Atlantic calls, as if it were a magnet, to those whose blood is inextricably linked with the sea.
