John Fuller Ryan holds a Master's Degree in technical education from Northeastern Illinois University. He has practiced and taught as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and is licensed as a Paramedic and Lead Instructor in Emergency Medical Services. He is retired from a 36-year professional teaching career as a Community College educator, having headed several teaching departments. He is also retired from a simultaneous Fire Service career with over 30 years of service as a paid-on-call and professional firefighter/paramedic. John completed his Fire/Rescue career as a Paramedic Lieutenant in 2006. Presently, Ryan serves as a Field Instructor in Emergency Medical Services at the Illinois Fire Service Institute, a division of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Mr. Ryan's interest in military history is a lifelong passion, and his concentration on military vehicles and their logistics began during his service as a Military Policeman in Germany in the early '60's. Ryan has owned and displayed vintage military vehicles since the '80's, and is an active member of a number of military-historical associations. Mr. Ryan lives with his wife, Susan, in Champaign, Illinois. They have two grown daughters and two grandchildren.
