David Johnston is an award winning journalist who covered many of the biggest stories in Scotland in a twenty year period from 1980 to 2000. He wrote the first book on the Lockerbie disaster having been amongst the first reporters to arrive in the town on December 21, 1988. He has appeared in many films and tv documentaries covering the disaster.
He co-wrote books on evil child killer Robert Black - Fear the Stranger - and on the notorious World's End murders which haunted Edinburgh as unsolved killing of two young girls until the culprit was finally bought to justice - The World's End with Tom Wood.
The Island Race is David's first novel which is based on an unnamed Hebridean Island where the bad landlord presides over a community riven by jealousy and drink.
David is a keen sailor and dog walker - spaniels - and has been involved with many charities in Scotland since leaving full time employment. He is married with three children and lives near Edinburgh.
