Mary Kirk

Mary Kirk made a somewhat dramatic entrance into life, teaching her parents, who were forty-three and fifty-two at the time, a new meaning for the term “starting over.” Raised in Baltimore, Maryland, she studied piano for fourteen years and earned a degree in American Studies and History. Her many and varied creative energies found their focus, though, when she began penning fiction.

Her novels have appeared on bestseller lists, and several have been nominated for and won awards from RT Book Reviews and Romance Writers of America. Ms. Kirk says she writes novels that reflect her “profound respect for the capacity of the human spirit to survive and flourish. When I write, I want to create a vision of what might be possible. Intimacy, honesty, love—the stuff romances are made of—aren’t fantasies to me. They're goals, things to reach for and to work toward.”

Ms. Kirk and her husband have two grown sons and one lovely daughter-in-law, and they currently live in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., with their pack of standard poodles.
