I’m Nick DiChario and Nicholas A. DiChario. I’ll answer to both. I’m an avid reader, writer, and life-long mistake-maker. Most importantly, I love to write! I hope you’ll read some of my stories and like them.
My tales have appeared in many magazines and anthologies, among them The Year’s Best Science Fiction; The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror; New Micro: Exceptionally Short Fiction; The Best Alternate History Stories of the 20th Century; and The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.
I’ve been nominated for the Hugo and World Fantasy awards, and my first two novels, A Small and Remarkable Life and Valley of Day-Glo, both received nominations for the John W. Campbell Memorial Award for Best Science Fiction Novel of the Year.
I’ve worked many odd jobs since I was a kid, including paperboy, construction worksite gopher, dishwasher at a Catholic seminary, creative writing professor, education director for a non-profit literary center, indie bookstore owner, and, most recently, communications specialist in corporate America. Along the way, I managed to earn my bachelor’s degree in English from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York, and a master’s in Liberal Studies from SUNY Empire State College.
