JZ Murdock

JZ Murdock is an award-winning author, filmmaker, and screenwriter living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. His novel Death of Heaven won the NYC Big Book Award for Horror, as well as others. His films and screenplays have received over 150 international awards.

He holds a degree in psychology, concentrating in phenomenology, from Western Washington University, where he also studied team screen and scriptwriting and produced his first film and screenplay. His paper on synesthesia and schizophrenia was described by his professor as a seminal piece of research, unique to be presented by an undergrad, and remained largely unapproached for nearly a decade. Before focusing on creative work, he worked professionally as a Senior Technical Writer on high level PNW IT teams, a background that informs the clarity and precision found in his storytelling, just as Isaac Asimov had pointed out it would in his autobiography.

Murdock’s work spans horror, science fiction, speculative fiction, as well as non-fiction, across books, short stories, screenplays, and film.
