Divorce requires people to make some of the most important decisions in their lives at a time when they feel the least able to do so. I believe that, with the right tools, each client has the capacity to make decisions that will help them rebuild their lives and preserve their highest dreams. The most important part of my job is to help people identify their best alternatives and to create an environment that allows them to achieve their most important goals.

Most of my clients have been able to achieve their highest goals through the Collaborative Process, a method of resolving family law disputes that allows families to protect the needs of their children and to focus on building their new lives. I have co-authored a book with Stu Webb, the founder of collaborative law, to help families understand this important option. The book, The Collaborative Way to Divorce: The Revolutionary Method that Results in Less Stress, Lower Cost, and Happier Kids---Without Going to Court" was published by Hudson Press, a division of Penguin, USA, and is available in many bookstores and on Amazon.com.

In order to help more clients achieve better results through the Collaborative Process, I have worked to make Collaborative Law available all around the world. I am a past President of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and I am also a past President of Minnesota's Collaborative Law Institute.

Since 1983, I have helped thousands of families and individuals achieve their best outcomes, through my work as an attorney and mediator. While my primary focus has been on helping families through the Collaborative method, I firmly believe that families need to understand all of their choices. In 2001, I founded www.divorcechoice.com, a website dedicated to helping families understand all of their choices.

Because of my commitment to these methods, I have been asked to speak to groups regarding family conflict throughout the world and I have been quoted by local and international media sources. I have also been consistently recognized as a "Top Lawyer" in Mpls/St. Paul Magazine, Law & Politics Magazine and Twin Cities Business Monthly.
