Dr. Rayner

Dr. Rayner has been around writing and illustration most of his life. As a young sprout he enjoyed hanging around his school's art department or newspaper. Many hours were spent re-drawing and writing favorite comic strips or plays.

After attending the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, he bounced around Los Angeles as an art director. Working in ad agencies in the days before computers meant rendering endless headlines and layouts.

In 1983, Dr. Rayner packed up and moved to NYC seeking a few years of fame and fortune. Instead, he found himself buying vintage art from Illustration House and loitering at the Society of Illustrators on 63rd and Park Avenue.

It was at this time he realized that art direction and design pay the bills, but his imagination wanted more action. So he moved to Seattle in '85 with a promise to turn up the brain.

Dr. Rayner's balance between art and copy has continued through the years. While counseling home owners in the need of hugs, he often works with other writers and artists because he enjoys being around them.

Currently, Dr. Rayner is creating more than ever. Writing and painting everyday are a priority after a morning jog with his wife, and reading Calvin and Hobbs re-runs.
