Paul O'Haver

Paul O’Haver grew up in Long Beach, California, in the 1950s and early ’60s. He was involved in Boy Scouts and any athletics he could find, including high school cross country and track. He even took ballroom dance lessons. Paul initially attended Long Beach City College, and then transferred to Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. He was drafted into the US Army in 1967 and returned to the United States two year later. He then enrolled in Long Beach State University and earned a BS degree in Physical Therapy. He then received a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from Chapman University in Orange, California.

He became a commissioned officer with the U.S. Air Force in 1976, and he worked as physical therapist and personal trainer for 18 years in several states and countries before landing in Arizona and retiring at the rank of LtCol.

For 18 years, Paul’s life revolved around soccer, soccer, and more soccer, and this book is the culmination of his years of experience in the sport. During these years he coached both his children in soccer.

He currently resides with his wife, Judy, who is a Nurse Practitioner with a PhD, and teaches at the local university. He has two grown children. Michael, is married and works as a mechanical engineer; and Christina, attends Arizona State University. Paul continues to practice as a physical therapist and is still active in soccer, albeit as a soccer safety and sports injury consultant and referee. His family is pleased that his interests now include making time for them, photography and fly fishing.
