Andreas Altmann

Andreas Altmann was an actor at the Residenztheater in Munich and the Schauspielhaus in Vienna, a law and psychology student, and studied also at the New York University. He worked as a gardener, cab driver, private chauffeur, a male model, parking attendant, dishwasher, waiter, road construction worker, night porter, assembly line worker and investment advisor. He spent time in an Indian ashram and in a Zen monastery in Kyoto. He has lived in Munich, Salzburg, Vienna, Paris, New York and Mexico City. He now lives again as reporter and travel writer in Paris. He first worked for German-language and international magazines and newspapers. He has been publishing books since 1996, 24 so far, including seven bestsellers. Only the German editions are listed here. There are translations into Polish, Korean, Danish, Bulgarian, French and Spanish (see my homepage).. Andreas Altmann has been awarded the Egon-Erwin-Kisch-Preis (three times more nominated for this price), the Seume-Literatur-Preis, the Reisebuch-Preis and the Weltentdecker-Preis. Plus an award from the German AIDS Foundation. He was also nominated for the publicist award in Klagengfurt.
