Her heart beats for culinary delights: from fine dining to quick meals. When it comes to taste and health, Killmann makes no compromises. Her recipes are sometimes simple, sometimes elaborate, and have something delicious in store for every amateur chef. Two of her cookbooks have won awards: “Patrick Jobs / Echt gut kochen!” received the German Cookbook Award and “Kochschätzchen” won the World Cookbook Award. The authenticity of her work is appreciated in the professional cooking and sports scene, for which Killmann works as a ghostwriter. In addition, the Germanist has made a name for herself with biographies of renowned designers such as Ettore Sottsass Jr., Ingo Maurer, Archrizoom, Studio DDL, Joe Colombo, Antoni Gaudi, Gae Aulenti, Archille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, and others, as well as the painter Salvador Dalì.

World travels and waistcoat pocket

As a child of the “Kohlenpott” (coal mining region), Killmann returned to the Ruhr area at the beginning of the 21st century after years of professional travelling through international Michelin-starred restaurants and the marketing and publishing scene. She knows the region like the back of her hand and appreciates it for its cultural and culinary diversity. “Due to the immigration of international workers for the coal mines, who did not come alone but brought their families with them, the Ruhr region was and is a pioneer for multicultural coexistence and multicultural cuisine in Germany,” says Killmann.

Culinary arts in the blood

And where does someone who knows to cook and write from scratch and has culinary arts in her blood live and work?

In Essen, of course.
