Swanie Simon

Animal herbalist and naturopath Swanie Simon was born in Germany but lived in the USA for thirty years after her family moved to N.Y. when she was one year old.

Her love of animals and nature was apparent from a very young age and she has spent her life working with animals and learning everything she could about them. Influenced by Juliette de Bairacli Levy's books, she went on to become a herbalist, TCVM practitioner and naturopath for animals (Tierheilpraktiker). She had the good fortune of learning directly from Juliette (who lived at her farm for several years) and from great herbalists like Matthew Wood, Cathy Skipper, Rosalee de la Foret, 7song as well as distance learning from Michael Moore, Rosemary Gladstar, Signe Beebe and others. Swanie is specialized in the natural rearing and herbal treatment of dogs and cats and is one of Europe's most renowned authors, teachers and practitioners in her field.

She is credited with making the subject of raw diets for dogs and cats (BARF) popular in Europe.

Swanie Simon now lives on a beautiful farm in the high forest region of Germany with about 10 dogs, several cats, horses, a herd of goats and some chickens. She grows and wildcrafts herbs and makes her own herbal medicines as well as producing a line of nutritional and herbal supplements for dogs & cats, which she sells under the brand name DHN or "Drei Hunde Nacht" - which means "three dog night".

She has been running her naturopathic practice since 1997 with some interruptions due to the content of her seminars (and the subsequent trouble), which caused quite a stir in the allopathic and processed pet food industry.

Her seminars about natural feeding and holistic health care for pets are well-loved and quickly sold out in Germany.

Swanie plans on publishing her next book in German and English in order to carry on the healing tradition as she learned it from Juliette de Bairacli Levy.
