Allen J. Woppert

Allen Woppert grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA in the 1950s and '60s. He has lived most of his adult life

in Germany and Spain. Writing has always been a big part of Allen's life. After 30 years in educational

publishing, where concise language is key, he began to produce short stories and a young adult novel.

He draws on life experience and keen observation to portray characters with extraordinary depth, tempering

the intensity with occasional wry humor.

Allen talks about what has inspired him: "I can look back on a long life with lots of travel in the Americas and

Europe, as well as corners of the Middle and Far East. Wherever I am, I'm a notorious eavesdropper. I want to

know how people talk, and I incorporate segments of their lives—along with my own—every time I sit down to

write.”
