Michael N. Corbett

Michael N. Corbett is a contemporary master builder who has combined the practices of architectural design and planning with construction as did the medieval master builders. He was honored by Time Magazine in 1999 as a “Hero for the Planet” for the design and development of the Village Homes solar community in Davis California. The first of its kind in the world, the development won widespread recognition and was visited by then-First Lady Rosalyn Carter, French President François Mitterand and other world leaders and scholars. It is still toured today, and is considered one of the best modern examples of an environmentally sensitive community. Michael was a pioneer in the sustainable design movement and lectures at universities and conferences around the world. He has served as an adjunct lecturer at the University of California, Davis and Berkeley. He is also the author of A Better Place to Live: New Designs for Tomorrow’s Communities.
