Alethea Ballard

Bay Area author and quilter Alethea Ballard gets her inspirations from her quirky palette of fabrics and from post-impressionist artists. She creates vibrant and exciting quilts, using clear colors and cheerful images. Ballard's working style is a culmination of her impatience with convention, her spontaneity, and her artistic sensibility. Eager to share her passion for fabric, color and design, Ballard's books are designed to encourage quilters to create with joy and a sense of freedom from traditional rules.

Alethea Ballard began designing her own quilt patterns from the moment she could quilt and her upcoming book, Maverick Quilts - Using Large-Scale Prints, Novelty Fabrics & Panels with Panache, due out in Summer from C & T Publishing, is an exciting addition to the ongoing "conversation" between modern quilters and modern fabrics.
