Dr. Gary Rodriguez is an author, speaker, leadership consultant, and lifelong student of faith and personal transformation. His newest book, The Journey to God: God’s Unique Way of Encountering Each of Us, explores a deeply personal question: What if God has been reaching out to you all along?
Drawing on decades of ministry, leadership, teaching, and life experience, Gary writes about the ways God meets people personally and uniquely throughout their lives. He holds a Master of Divinity from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, and a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts.
Gary’s professional career has spanned executive leadership, organizational development, executive coaching, conflict resolution, broadcasting, and nonprofit leadership. He founded and leads LeaderMetrix, where he works with senior leaders and organizations to strengthen leadership, communication, and organizational effectiveness. Earlier in his career, he spent 18 years in radio broadcasting and was one of Infinity Broadcasting's original station managers.
His life story also began unusually. As a young man, Gary served in the U.S. Army and became the youngest Drill Instructor in Army history at age 18. During his military service, he was awarded the Silver Star for valor in combat.
Gary has written several books, including Purpose-Centered Public Speaking, Overcoming the Fear of Public Speaking, and the adventure novel Stranded in the Wild. His latest work, The Journey to God, is also available in a Small Group Edition with discussion questions and a Leader’s Guide designed to help churches, Bible studies, and small groups explore the book together.
After decades devoted to leadership, communication, and helping people grow, Gary’s writing increasingly reflects the subject that has shaped his own life most profoundly: how God encounters us, guides us, and draws us into a deeper relationship with Him.
Gary lives in Idaho with his wife.
