Charles V. Balch

My professional career is divided equally between success in academia and in the private information systems sector. My focus has always been on effective use of technology and human-computer interaction.

My academic credentials are eclectic.

While an undergraduate at the University of California at Davis, I created a cross-discipline Bachelor of Science degree in Psychophysiology focused on the study of how the mind effects the body and how to train persons to control this interaction to their advantage. I developed much of the early software then used internationally in this area.

At the University of the Virgin Islands, I earned a Masters Degrees in Education and a Masters in Business Administration while also serving as full-time faculty and covering various administrative positions. UVI faces unique instructional challenges and I was very active in creating distance education technology solutions to address those issues.

I earned my PhD with a focus on Leadership and Research from Louisiana State University where I was an LSU Board of Regents Fellow. My doctoral studies were also eclectic as I took classes in four different schools and nearly doubled the units required for my program of study with a variety of cross discipline graduate courses. My dissertation was focused on Internet surveys.

As of Fall 2012, I am a Clinical Associate Professor of International Business and Marketing at NAU-Yuma. NAU is learning outcomes focused. I enjoy an academic orientation where I am encouraged to take greatest satisfaction from the student success.
