As a full-time writer my work has appeared in Forbes Travel Guides, The Hollywood Reporter, Decanter, Wine & Spirits, Wine Enthusiast, Skywest, Westways, The Tasting Panel, Sommelier Journal, Fido Friendly, Santa Barbara Magazine, and more than 80 publications covering wine, food, travel, history, architecture, water and other subjects. Along the way I have interviewed Jonathan Winters, Dan Aykroyd, Mario Andretti, Gina Gallo, Ted Allen, Dave Koz and other celebrities. My book of poetry, "Generous Fiction," was released in 2009 and I maintain my position as the restaurant critic for the Santa Barbara News-Press, as well as senior editor for BottledWaterWeb.com. I contribute to a variety of publications including Food & Beverage World, IntoWine.com, Wine Country This Week, Arroyo Monthly, Copper in the Arts, and others.
My 1st national travel book, published by Moon, was "Santa Barbara & The Central Coast" which was followed by "Moon Spotlight: Cambria & San Simeon; including Hearst Castle and Morro Bay," and then my 3rd travel book, "California Wine Country," all about the best wine destinations in the state. My 4th Moon book, "California Road Trip," was followed by "Our World of Water," a water books geared towards the general public.
I grew up in La Canada, a small suburb of Los Angeles but even as a youngster would routinely take trips up coast to Santa Barbara through Cambria and it was always a goal to move there. After working as an actor in Hollywood writing and directing theatre and appearing on TV (3rd Rock from the Sun, Grace Under Fire, The Young and the Restless), the time came to fulfill the goal of living on the Central Coast. I live in Santa Barbara and work at home. Occasionally our cats Lilith and Toby distract me, but otherwise I'm at my desk!
You can always follow me on Twitter and Facebook, and visit my website MichaelCervin.com and my blog dedicated to visiting the Central Coast at CervinsCentralCoast.blogspot.com, and my global travel blog, www.Exploracation.blogspot.com. Thanks for taking the journey with me.
