A native of New Orleans, Troy Gilbert grew up visiting and sailing the Mississippi Gulf Coast and exploring the Gulf of Mexico. He has written about these waters for publications such as Sailing World, BoatUS, Mississippi Magazine, Southern Boating, the Times-Picayune and many others. In 2015, he won a Boat Writing International Award for a story on cruising Mississippi's Gulf Islands, which is included in On the Coast.
On the Coast is Troy's fourth cookbook and follows Dinner with Tennessee Williams. His earlier two books are New Orleans Kitchens and the Cafe Degas Cookbook. Troy lives in New Orleans and is generally either typing on his backporch in Lakeview while sipping wine from his grandparents old wine glasses or traveling throughout the Gulf Coast, the Caribbean and Europe writing about boating, culture and competitive sailing. His work and photography can be found at gulflatitudes.com.
