After 18 stellar years in music publishing in Los Angeles, Mona Enos changed her gig, big time. In 1996, together with her husband, they adopted a baby boy, and again, 18 months later, his baby brother. Staying up all night she was use to, but waking up at dawn was a whole different tune.
The price paid for chasing after two boys was the grateful loss of a couple dress sizes, and several copies of Goodnight Moon. But the kiddos were soon full of, and over, their bedtime staple. They needed a new book and Mona needed some shut-eye. Meanwhile, a childhood epidemic (ADD, now in high definition, called ADHD) was running rampant and she feared her Bamm Bamm boys would "catch" it too.
One day, in a mommy-mini-meditation, an idea flashed. Why not create a baby meditation, add early learning focus skills, use our family's favorite sport activities for the theme, with a knock-out, lights-out goal? Grandma paints the pictures, PIPS makes the copies and presto, storyboards are shared with family and friends.
Are You Ready? A Beditation is born, the boys love it and we all fall asleep with ease. But long term, will the center and focus rhymes really work? Only time can tell that story. Ten years later Mona realizes the book is monster! Check out its back cover to see just how their visualization creation plays out.
Now living in the Midwest, in a new home with a full nest, she keeps busy as a substitute teacher and as her son's companion on his Olympic quest. Mona believes children pick their parents. She continues to write, featuring children in a whole new light.
