Dr. Henry M. Hess

With more than 25 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology, Henry Hess, M.D., Ph.D., has learned all the secrets to treating and surviving menopause. But he also knows that a regular 15-20 minutes patient visit is usually too short to provide menopausal women all the information they need.

“Every day, women come into my office overwhelmed with information, confused about their therapeutic options, and don’t know who they can trust anymore to help them get through the menopausal transition,” says Dr. Hess. “So many menopausal and perimenopausal women are seeking someone, anyone, who can be their open-minded partner while they try to navigate their way through these changes.”

To fully empower menopausal women, Dr. Hess wrote The Perfect Menopause: 7 Steps to the Best Time of Your Life (Westfall Park Publishing, 2008, 978-1604029352, $19.95). The book aims to help women manage their menopause successfully, naturally and safely. One of the few OB/GYNs in the country who is a menopausal specialist, he combines his unique knowledge of chemistry, gynecology and natural therapy in treating the symptoms of menopause. Inside the book, he offers seven steps to help women lose menopausal weight, get a good night’s sleep, regain sexual desire, and restore the health of their skin and hair.

“The average woman will spend one-third or more of her life in menopause,” says Dr. Hess. “Since the history of menopause research has provided us with a lot of information, we now know that there are lots of options for symptomatic women to try. You can benefit from this information if you put it into perspective and use it to maximize your menopause experience. I want women to know the real facts that are crucial to their decision process, and not be confused or misled by the media hype.”

In 1969, Dr. Hess received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry at Purdue University under Nobel Prize laureate Professor HC Brown. From there, he earned an M.D. from New York Medical College, and trained as an obstetrician gynecologist at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Today, he serves as an Associate Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the same campus. He continues to write and lectures nationally on the topics of menopause, perimenopause, and other hormone problems.

Along with his wife Lynn Marie, whom this book is dedicated to, Dr. Hess currently resides in Rochester, New York.
