Donovan Hadaway

My name is Donovan Hadaway and I write about educational issues, with a special emphasis on the philosophy of teaching and learning. I grew up in central Ohio, and presently live in Columbus with my wife and three daughters.

From 1995 to 2004, I taught seventh grade science in public and private schools. I have also worked in educational publishing as an author and consultant.

Classroom teaching has always fascinated me. I remember every single one of my teachers since kindergarten. I remember their faces, names, and fashion choices. I remember the smell of their perfume (creepy, I know) and their annoying habits. I remember the teacher who ate dog biscuits for afternoon snacks. I remember every smile and every cross word they ever said to me.

Unfortunately, I can't remember all the lessons they taught. For many years, I didn't know why. So, I decided to focus on the lessons I did remember and tried to see what made those lessons different from all the others. I discovered the secret (which really isn't secret) and I decided to share it in my book "Head Stuffing Doesn't Work" (Available exclusively on The Kindle Store).

My style is simple and irreverent. It is the only way I knew how to teach and it is the only way I know how to write.

I would like to write a few more titles, and would appreciate your feedback and reviews. I am a huge believer in digital publishing and I am convinced that authors and readers will continue to reap the benefits of low-cost, quality e-books that can entertain, educate, and enhance your life and career.
