Peter Jacob Streitz was raised in Mohawk, NY. Upon receiving a full-ride athletic scholarship—which he rejected—he counter-cultured his way into an obscure degree in ‘Alternative Education’ at Boston University. His degree, a grasp of urban social services, and a stint as a “Repo Man” primed his low-tech résumé for a hi-tech rise in the corporate world of computers.
Troubled by his career arc, he left for San Francisco to pursue writing. Heeding the advice of a Lit professor who wearily advised his beatific assemblage—that the only way to be a writer—was to live the life of one, he dove into the city’s dives and hellholes. And there, with the love of his wife, Donna, plus, the barflies and crazed philosophers who haunt these spheres . . . he lived the life of a novel while composing four published works—PAST OZ and three books of verse.
After 34 years in SF, he reversed direction and headed home again, East. Landing in Hudson, N.Y. after an 11,000-mile odyssey across the USA. He continues to write books in both prose and poetry.
