Martin Grunburg

Martin Grunburg didn't set out to build a behavioral framework. He was simply frustrated.

Despite effort and motivation, his biggest goals felt strangely out of reach. That frustration led him to a better question: what keeps preventing me from achieving my goals?

That question became The Habit FactorŽ, a book built on a simple but powerful insight: goals aren't optional, and habits are the engine that drives goal attainment. A great strategy without supportive habits is worthless.

Years before dozens of modern habit bestsellers, Grunburg introduced the Habit FactorŽ app (2009), the first habits-to-goals tracking app, launching an entire category of habit trackers. Thousands of readers began applying the method to careers, health, relationships, and personal goals — with unusual consistency.

His later books, The Pressure Paradox™ and EVERYTHING is a STORY, expanded the lens — exploring pressure, identity, and the narratives that quietly shape behavior. Together, the three books formed an unintended trilogy — one that, in hindsight, had been excavating something larger all along.

That "something" became the Unified Behavior Model (UBM): presented as behavioral science's first simultaneously unified, elemental, goal-directed, and falsifiable model of behavior. Released as a scientific preprint on July 8, 2025, UBM remains unrefuted more than a year later, having withstood a standing public challenge to identify a fifth, missing element — a challenge taken up by every leading frontier AI system, as well as a top unification theorist.

For nearly six years before that preprint, Grunburg taught the framework to executives and coaches internationally, predominantly through ITD World, under the banner "Executive coaching for profound transformation."

What does this mean for readers?

For the first time, there's a scientific, unified system for behavior change — not a collection of isolated tips and hacks, but a hard, testable, unified, and closed framework encapsulating the entire behavioral landscape.

Grunburg writes for people who want clarity over hype, and basic, elemental, testable science over guru magic.

His work has been featured by The New York Times, Lifehacker, Mashable, U.S. News, and CNET, and he presented his research at TEDx UAE (Al Ain, 2010).
