Greta Blackburn

After years of success in show business appearing in everything from films (“48 Hours”, “Yellowbeard”, etc) to television (recurring on Dynasty, countless guest starring roles) to mini-series (“V: The Final Battle” as Lorraine, the “good lizard) and commercials (the Eclipse sunscreen and Mauna Loa macadamia nut girl), Greta made a career about-face and became the Founding Editor of Ms. Fitness Magazine and the Founder of FITCAMPS, wellness retreats for adults. Her appearances as host on the televised Ms. Fitness USA and Ms. Fitness World contests were seen by millions of viewers for several years on Fox SportsNet.

In November '09 Ms. Blackburn Co-Chaired the Manhattan Beach Project – Longevity Summit which featured leading researcher in fields ranging from stem cell technology to artificial general intelligence (AGI) and nanomedicine and beyond.

Blackburn co-authored one of the first mainstream mind/body books in 1997, “LifeBalance”.. Her latest book, “The Immortality Edge” is a prescriptive book based on the precepts of telomere biology. Her co-authors include Michael Fossel, MD, PhD and Dr. Dave Woynarowski.

The Telonauts Club (www.telonauts.com) was developed by Blackburn and her team to tie into with the new book and is geared toward those early adopters and Baby Boomers who wish to connect with others and network about possibilities for extending lifespan and having a ball doing so.

Blackburn continues to enjoy forays into the world of acting when truly compelling projects attract her interest. In Mid-October she did a one week stint in a powerful “enlightenment showbiz” project entitled “Prophet or Madman.” It is based on the real-life story of a Florida ice cream man who had a sit-down with God several years ago. Blackburn played his slightly off-kilter but engaging guardian angel. The play will return to NY in Jan. ’11 and will move to LA in the Spring of ’11.

When Telomere Biology won the Nobel Prize for medicine in 2008 it proved that Blackburn is truly in the right place at the right time.

As Blackburn says, however, “You can’t get too heavy handed with any of this stuff and living to a ripe old 150 wouldn’t mean much to me if I were not enjoying the ride!” She adds, “Being in the youth business is great because it’s one of a very few areas where as you get older, if you get better you gain more credibility.”
