Attorney and Edgar Allan Poe scholar, I uncovered that Nathaniel Hawthorne portrayed the aftermath of Poe’s rumored affair with popular author Frances Osgood in The Scarlet Letter. Out of my research came an academic book and a study guide: (1) The Affair of Edgar Poe and Frances Osgood in The Scarlet Letter; and (2) The Scarlet Letter: Edgar Poe and Frances Osgood Edition and Study Guide.

On the fiction side, my books "Coffee with Poe: A Novel of Edgar Allan Poe's Life," The Divine Dantes: Squirt Guns in Hades (Books I - III), and "Mailboxes - Mansions - Memphistopheles: A Collection of Dark Tales,” won awards.

I also edited the following annotated anthologies: Crypt Classics: Best 19th Century Horror Short Stories; Witchcraft Classics: Best Witch Short Stories 1800-1849; Shifters: Best Werewolf Short Stories 1800-1849; 6a66le: Best Horror Short Stories 1800-1849; and others.
