Stephanie Harzewski

Chick Lit and Postfeminism synthesizes Harzewski's reading of the romance genre and its variants as well as interprets the author's own experience as a publishing professional in New York in the late 1990s and the first decade of the twenty-first century. It is a partial record of a passionate English professor's history as a reader during her apprentice and early career years at the University of Pennsylvania. The comic period pieces of chick lit allowed Harzewski (b. 1974) to analyze a body of writing of a generation of 'daughters' and beneficiaries of the women's movement as well as the author's own identity as a consumer in a metropolis.

Harzewski lives in Portsmouth, NH, where she is Principal Lecturer in the English department at the University of New Hampshire.
