Neil Smyth

After twenty years of writing technical books and building a publishing company, Neil Smyth decided it was time for a change. He still wanted to write and publish books, but no longer wanted to spend quite so much of his life explaining programming languages and developing apps for smartphones.

They say you should never turn a hobby into a career. Having ignored that advice with technology, Neil decided to make the same mistake a second time. If he isn’t writing a book, he’s usually reading one—and it’s usually about business. His longstanding fascination with how companies are built, how they grow, and why they fail led to *Bare Fare*, his first non-technical book, which charts the rise and fall of Spirit Airlines.

Neil is CEO of Payload Media, Inc. and is already working on his next business book.
