John H. Sibley

John Sibley grew up on Chicago's Westside/Southside and Robbins ,Illinois before graduating from Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, Illinois. After graduating he studied at the American Academy of Art. To fulfill his desire for adventure, he joined the United States Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, he went on to study at Kennedy& King College in Chicago and later graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He was also a homeless artist on Chicago's violent streets for six month which is the basis for his memoir. After being convicted for a crime he did not do he worked such jobs as a CNN courtroom artist,caricaturist, Chicago tour guide, janitor and a brief stint years later, as a schoolteacher. His urban science fiction debut novel, Bodyslick, was published by VIBE/Kensington in 2008, and his non-fiction novel Being And Homelessness: Notes From An Underground Artist was published by Wordsworth Greenwich Press in 2012. He is now retired and pursuing his passion of writing, painting and perfecting his billiard game. He is also an avid painter, and a rather good one. Some of his paintings are owned by Mike Tyson, Chicago's Mayor Richard Daley, former NBA player John Salley, and various outlets and organizations. He also illustrated the wonderful cover art and illustrations for "Hannibal" a graphic novel by author Ken Sabanda. He also did the oil portrait of his great grandmother on the eBook "HEX".
