Lindy Vinke

Lindy Vinke is a full-time author, translator, and researcher with a lifelong passion for European history. Her historical novels span several centuries and settings — from Elizabethan England and the court of the Sun King at Versailles, to Amsterdam's Dutch Golden Age, to Revolutionary France — including her acclaimed French Revolution series, A Revolution Is Born, beginning with A Favour for Marie Antoinette.

Alongside her fiction, Lindy has translated and annotated several important primary-source memoirs from 18th-century France, including the Memoirs of the Princesse de Tarente, the three-volume Memoirs of Baronne d'Oberkirch and the account of life in prison during the Revolution written by the Duchesse de Duras.

Lindy holds a Doctorate in Music (PhD), a BA in English and History of Art, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management, along with a Performance Licentiate and a Fellowship in Music from Trinity College London. Bilingual in English and Dutch, she also reads French with ease, allowing her to work directly from original historical sources.

Born in England, Lindy has also lived on the Dutch island of Texel and in South Africa, and now divides her time between the sub-tropical North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal and the vast South African Highveld. When she isn't writing or translating, she can be found playing the harpsichord and piano, or painting wildlife in oils.
