Cesar Torres

Cesar Torres is a Chicago-based novelist and artist building the Aztecverse, a dark fantasy universe rooted in Mexica cosmology. They publish through Solar Six Books, the imprint they founded in 2012.

Torres is the author of The Coil, a dark fantasy series featuring the Aztec gods, the underworld of Mictlán, and the future of humanity. The series opened with 13 Secret Cities in 2013 and continued with 9 Lords of Night. The third book, Hall of Mirrors, arrives July 8, 2026. A fourth volume, Coatlicue, follows in 2027.

Their standalone novel Our Lord of the Flowers, centered on Xochipilli—the Aztec god of flowers, music, and poetry—arrives October 6, 2026.

Under the pen name Pablo Greene, Torres wrote How to Kill a Superhero, a four-book M2M series.

Before writing fiction full time, Torres worked in technology journalism and product publishing. They served as editor at Ars Techhnica and Wirecutter. Torres studied at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and holds a master's in human-computer interaction from DePaul University. They live and write in Chicago.
