"As a child growing up in rural Mississippi, books became my best friends. I've found comfort, motivation, and a broad view of the world between those book covers. Reading and writing now share equally in my life. My latest book, THE OTHER TWO-FIFTHS, is a ten-year endeavor to share history, and part of my experiences in the fight for equality."

Joan has resided in Houston, TX for 38 years, and now shares homes in both Houston and Beaumont with husband Dale, an automobile dealer. She enjoys storytelling, and loves to share experiences from her youth, her career in mortgage banking, mortgage law, and real estate, as well as her travels which are sources for many of her stories.
