Katherine Riegel

Katherine Riegel is a poet, writer, and meditator. She lives in Memphis, Tennessee with her husband, though her heart also lives in central Illinois, where she grew up, and Tampa, where many of her good friends live.

Her poetry books are _Love Songs From the End of the World_, a collection of poems about the eroding ecological and political world as well as the love that makes it worth living in; _Letters to Colin Firth_, a collection of prose poems/short memoir pieces that tell the story of being between relationships, places, states of mind; _What the Mouth Was Made For_, poems taking on desire and loss; and _Castaway_, poems about the loss of childhood and the rural Illinois landscape where she grew up. She received her MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and her poems and essays have appeared in numerous journals, including Brevity, Crazyhorse, Fourth Genre, Orion, Poets.org, The Rumpus, and Tin House. She is co-founder and poetry editor for the independent online journal Sweet Lit (sweetlit.com), and she's part of a collective of women writers who run the blog The Gloria Sirens (thegloriasirens.com).
