Matt Granger has been a teacher for over 20 years. The greatest learning he's seen has been in himself. After a lifetime of listening to, and believing, the negative messages that had pervaded his mind, he started looking for positive input to change his mind. He collected positive quotes from books and speeches to change the input.
He put them on overhead transparencies for his students to copy for cursive practice. As he explained what they meant to the students, it hit him that this needed to be written down for the kids. That was the genesis for the book.
Since its publication, his classes have had the privilege to learn how their choices affect their futures even at a young age. He shares how hard it still is to fight the effects of believing 20 years of negative messages. He warns them of the dangers of listening to the negative messages: they become truth to you. You start believing the lies.
As an elementary teacher, he sees that teaching his students these lessons is one of his greatest missions in the classroom.
