Born in the Bronx, New York, Andrew Tang grew up in upstate New York, California, Wisconsin, and Long Island. He received a B.A. in Literature and Creative Writing from the State University of New York at Binghamton and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan. He has won an Academy of American Poets College Poetry Prize and has been a Work-Study Scholar at The Bread Loaf Writers' Conference. His writing teachers include Galway Kinnell, Robert Creeley, Liz Rosenberg, Larry Woiwode, Milton Kessler, Richard Tillinghast, and Alice Fulton. He has worked as a bookseller, a magazine publisher, a textbook editor, and a freelance writer. He lives in Arlington, Massachusetts.
