I was born in a small village called Smeeth in Kent, England, in the winter of 1943.
I attended secondary school in Folkestone and started my working life as a Carpenter
working on building sites.
When I was eighteen I started work on the Nuclear Power station at Dungeness where I
progressed up to being a Stress reliever of metals and further on to become a
Radiographer of metals. I worked on three nuclear power stations around England. I was in charge of twenty eight men loading the pile-cap Thornbury Power Station.
When I was thirty-one years old, married with two children. My wife and I decided to move to Australia. There were no power stations where I could resume my profession so I joined the Corrective Services Department as a Prison Officer.
I spent ten years inside one of Australia's most notorious prison complexes at Long Bay in Sydney. I had some good and some scary times, most could be dangerous. What I have written is not an account of these years but an accumulation of events over the years. Things that I will never forget. Being a prison officer does change ones outlook on life. Especially when one knows what hideous things some of the inmates have done. I have woven a fictitious story around the facts to bring it all together. It can be hard to tell the difference between fact and fiction. Truth is nearly always stranger.
Over these nine odd years I progressed up to a senior position until I left the service in mid
1983. From that date until most recently I have been self-employed as a Private Investigator. I am now retired and live in England.
During those latter years I began to write. So far I have written '1900 hours' as mentioned above. 'Bast 'which is a horror story. 'Maria's Revenge' about one man's struggle with the IRA.
I have also compiled 'Granny & Granddads Household Encyclopedia' which gives all the old remedies for today's ailments. I.e.; cooking recipes. How to fix things, and Etiquette; from the correct way to write a letter to how to conduct a wedding etc:
I have also composed over 100 'Enigmas' for adults. And a booklet called 'Take a Hint' which covers tips on most everyday needs. All are available through online stores.
Publishers' comment-
Mr O'Neon has produced several books which are unique. Two are outstanding pieces of literature in "Maria's Revenge and 1900 Hrs". A unique and original blend of American 70's narrative, partnered with modern day social trends that has affect on us all. In creating memorable leads in "Maria's Revenge and 1900 Hrs", Mr O'Neon explores dimensions of the mind where we have all travelled but few speak of. "Maria's Revenge and 1900 Hrs" are truly remarkable feats, as an unpublished author Mr O'Neon has shown the instinct of the writer born.
Mr O'Neon deftly switching genre whilst maintaining the style and structure sought to define his material. With a rich plethora of characters built around a genuine and original plot lines "Maria's-Revenge and 1900 Hrs", are both imaginative and thought provoking. "1900 Hrs" features a much-unused style. The plot and character driven chapters piece together a narrative that lets the reader truly embrace the ambiguity of the lead. With empathetic prose and structured dialogue O'Neon gives weight to the fears and worries that everybody has felt at some stage in their life. "Maria's Revenge", features the hard characteristics of the thriller genre. In the mould of Clancy and Ludlum,
Mr O'Neon's "Maria's Revenge" is a tense, exciting, often sensational work with ingenious plotting, swift action, and continuous suspense. Matching the genre's criteria Mr O'Neon delivers a story with sustained tension, surprise, and a constant sense of impending doom that propels the reader forward. Dominated by action, with physical threat a constant companion, O'Neon fashions a wonderful narrative with a plethora of believable protagonists and the most nefarious of villains. Although he enjoys his work his heart has always belonged to writing, at an early age he learnt to escape into the world of fiction, giving birth to an active imagination and genuinely original themes. As a writer he is inspired by contemporary classics. With the skill and effort required to scribe such a unique manuscript,
