Sholom Glouberman

Sholom Glouberman is founding President of the Patients' Association of Canada. He is also Philosopher in Residence at the Kunin Lunenfeld Applied Research Unit of Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care, Adjunct Professor at the Universities of Toronto and McGill, and a past Fellow of the King's Fund in London England. He has a BA from McGill and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Cornell University. He gained much of his experience in the health field in the trenches at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and the King's Fund in London England. With that base, he became an advisor to doctors, nurses, and managers in Canada and internationally. He has designed and directed innovative management programs at the King's Fund in England and at McGill University in Montreal. He directed the health policy think tank at the Canadian Policy Research Networks. His experience as a patient, however, brought an entirely new perspective to his thinking, and in recent years, he has focused increasingly on the nature of the patient's role in health care. Sholom has spoken widely in Europe, Australia, and North America. His books and papers examine complex health systems, health in cities, health care reform, and the health care experience. His experience as patient is detailed in his latest book, My Operation. He is currently at work with many colleagues on the launch and development of the Patients' Association of Canada.
