Michael J. Vizdos

In 2005, the author bio in the back of The Enterprise Unified Process said Michael J. Vizdos had more than 15 years in IT.

It's 2026. Make it 35+.

That book, co-written with Scott Ambler and John Nalbone and published by Prentice Hall, argued something unfashionable at the time: software processes stop too early. RUP got you to delivery, then went quiet about production, support, and retirement, the parts where the business actually lives.

Twenty years and one industry-wide pivot to agile later, the gap has not closed. It just got new vocabulary.

He was Certified ScrumMaster #72 in 2004, and in 2006 one of the first 25 Certified Scrum Trainers, in a group mentored and approved directly by Ken Schwaber. Many of today's CSTs, and a fair number of the emeritus ones, came up through his classes and industry interactions. That same year he started "ImplementingScrum" online with the Scrum Cartoons. Millions of emails later, he is still writing about the same gap, usually with a chicken and a pig doing the explaining.

Since 2013 he has narrated the official Scrum Guide Audio Book, entrusted with it by Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. In 2020 he built the free online Interactive Scrum Guide and maintains both today.

Today he is Chief Product Officer at EdVizion, still shipping product rather than only advising on it.
