Tom Maxwell

Originally from Northumberland, Tom Maxwell is now based in Edinburgh. His first book, The Lone Rangers - An English Club's Century in Scottish Football, was described by Backpass as "a strong contender for best football book of the year".

His second book is about the most unusual pair of siblings ever to play football in Scotland. With a foreword by Denis Law, The Fabulous Baker Boys - The Greatest Strikers Scotland Never Had, is the story of the prolific strikers Joe and Gerry Baker. Despite the fact both spoke with broad Scottish accents, Joe was the first man playing outside the English league to represent England, while older brother Gerry played for the USA.

In 2021, Tom teamed up with Jackie Plenderleith for First and Last - How I Made History With Hibs, the story of the only surviving member of the first British team to compete in the European Cup.

Tom has written for numerous publications, including The Times, Daily Record and The Scotsman.
