Philosopher, science historian (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris), and visual artist, Chris Herzfeld has specialized in the study of great apes and the history of primatology. She works more specifically on bonobos, chimpanzees, gorillas and orangutans. She has been conducting fieldwork for many years throughout the world, in the United States, Europe, and Africa, and is the author of several books on great apes, including: The Great Apes: A Short History (Yale University Press, 2017) and Wattana: An Orangutan in Paris (University of Chicago Press, 2016).
