Arnaud Vareille

His encounter with Anders Petersen in Arles in 1982 convinces him to become a photographer.

He puts his end of high school’s diploma aside and assists Mike Yavel and Sarah Moon, who will therefore enable him to learn the art of being a photographer in the field.

He works as press and then environment photographer. After a director training at the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel in France, he creates a television department in Saudi Arabia and there produces wildlife programmes.

Between 1986 and 1990, he directs a few twenty-four documentaries, he takes part in six exhibitions both in the United States of America and in Saudi Arabia, and hundreds of photographies are being published.

Back in France in 1990, he alternates between creating events for big french companies, shooting portaits of business leaders or celebrities, and travelling across all five continents in order to take pictures of the nature or more specifically the deserts, working on nature and environment related projects.

In 2000, together with Jean-Michel Éberlé, he launches the company Ridway Organisation, specializing in events production on a big scale, making the most of skills acquired on various fields.

Manpower France puts in 2014 its advertising campaign in his hands : black and white portraits will be seen everywhere in France.

Since 2010, the books he publishes at Trans photographic press give its full meaning to his personnal work :

«Joue contre terre» gathers soils photographs taken all over the world, at ground level. Texts are added to them, written by scientific, intellectual and artistic celebrities seduced and inspired by this approach favorable to biological diversity.

«Obsolescence Programmée ?» (Planned obsolescence ?) in 2015, offers images of landscapes on the margin of their dissolution, on the border between figuration and abstraction, mastering perfectly the technique of blurring that dilutes color and definition, brushing against impressionism.

«Rêves dansés» (Danced dreams) his brand new photographic research, shot in a studio, with a model, explores the boundaries between a fixed image and an animated one.

In 2015, the european festival of nude photography shows «Rêves dansés» (Danced dreams) welcoming him in a solo exhibition in the Palais de l’Archevêché in Arles, France.

This work has also been awarded at the 2015 Internationnal Color Awards (Merit of Excellence, category Professional - Nude)
