Alex Nicol

Alex Nicol is a French crime fiction author based in Brittany, the rugged celtic peninsula of northwest France. With over 30 novels published in French (some translated in German, one in Italian), he is best known for his series featuring detective Gwenn Rosmadec whose investigations unfold against the dramatic landscape of Brittany - its coastlines, harbors and ancient traditions.

The strange secret of Marie Cloarec is Alex Nicol's debut in English, bringing Breton noir to American readers for the first time. Further translations are in the works, so this is just the beginning of Gwenn Rosmadec's English-language adventures.

When he is not writing, Alex can be found exploring the Breton countryside with his dog Aëlig or on stage with his pipe band where he serves as president and plays the Scottish bagpipe. A true Celt at heart.
